Jefferson, here we come!!!. Pat’s motor home was bursting at the seams as the 6 of us, plus Sandy and Dianna made our way to the town of Jefferson for their annual Craw fish boil.
Pat gave us a quick tour of her home town, stopping at some of the beautiful historical buildings for photo opportunities.
Then it was on to a local establishment to try some brews and get us in the mood for peeling crawfish and bopping to a Southern band providing entertainment at the festival.
A happy time was spent rummaging through the Jefferson general store and a few souvenirs and gifts brought. It was then back in the van to rumble on to the Los Pinos winery for some tastings. The sweet wine were declared good, but the dry’s left the tasters palates needing some Sangria.
Dinner was a chili cook-off and tasting in Mt Vernon and then the kind folk at Mt Vernon scheduled an outing at the Loan Star Saloon!!! It wasn’t long before we were boot scooting round the dance floor. We all got a good workout when the local cowboys twirled us round and round. Grace and Gracie used their charm to get a photo on a nice big Harley. A few tequilas later and we were chatting, dancing and playing shuttle board with the locals. Six Aussie girls in green intrigued the Texan men and we were famous for an evening.
Gracie, Tom and Nikki wouldn’t let the night end when the pub closed at 1am, so we took off to Tom and Sandy’s farm. As we drove down the mile long driveway we began to realise why they love this place so much. Met by Sandy and the dogs at the door, Tom needed little encouragement from Nik to get the quad bikes firing for a 2am adventure around the farm! Gracie was in her element, rocking on the love seat looking out into nature. When Tom got the guns out Nikki and Grace fled to the corner of the room, however it wasn’t long before Gracie looked just the part in her cowgirl boots with gun in hand.
