Look Out Clarksville - Here we come!!!

Farewells are never easy and leaving Texarkana was no different. Today saw us move on to the final stop on our trip - Clarksville. We were picked up by our old Rotary Friends PDG Bill Rains and Tammy Taylor from the Rotary Club of Clarksville.

The trip to Clarksville was short and we were met at the Presbyterian Church by our host families and trundled off to eat lunch and settle in to our new abodes before setting out on yet another adventure.

Sunday 10 May - Happy Mothers Day

Happy Mothers Day everyone. The team spent the day with their host families enjoying some down time and thinking of loved ones at home.

And just for laughs .. below is the latest Cowboy's Motorcycle .... THE COWASAKI

Saturday 9 May - Grassy Lake

GRASSY LAKE TOUR

Thank you to William for his wonderful hospitality and delicous food when we visited his cabin at Grassy Lake. It is a natural area used mostly for duck hunting and William treated us to his speciality - wild duck gumbo. We also had fresh salmon steaks on the BBQ (grill), corn bread and a fabulous crawfish et tu fe.

The team travelled out to a picnic area in the middle of the lake where William cranked up the BBQ for all the goodies. As we chatted and shared a few quiet wines we noticed the sky getting darker and the wind picking up (again eeek!!). Another boat arrived and announced we had a tornedo warning for the area (EEEEEKKKKK!!) so we shut all the windows and hunkered down until the worst of it passed. Needless to say the girls all babbled like a bunch of excited chooks once the fear had passed. Lots of laughs and talk of a fatalistic end to our young lives were entertained on the wet trip back to shore.

Friday 8 May

The team all had individual vocational days today. Gracie and Renee visited the WJ Ranch, Nina took some time at the Wellness / Fitness Centre in town and Grace visited the local College.

In the afternoon I (Renee) went to LifeNet which is the local ambulance service in Texarkana. I started the tour meeting with the HR and Payroll managers learning all there was to know. I then had the privilege of going on a flight in their helicopter. The view was amazing. I then headed out with the shift supervisor and got to witness the EMT's and Paramedics in action. It was awesome to see them in action (although on nothing serious) I was extremely jealous of the hydraulic stretchers....Thanks to David for organising such an amazing day.
